Swimathon Success!

What a feeling to walk in the Polehampton Pool on Saturday the 5th September, and see so many people already in the pool on the stroke of 2pm. All ages filled the 3 lanes and so many exceeded their expectations of what they might do, particularly the children, it was really amazing!  We had 120 swimmers swim an incredible total of 7550 lengths, that’s 188.75km!  Our aim was to see if we could swim the distance across the English Channel, we covered that 5 and a half times!  The Bird in Hand donated the profits of the delicious BBQ they provided, huge thanks to them for their support.  Thanks to all those who brought cakes to sell and to all who helped on the day counting laps, serving hot drinks, and to those who donated generously to the raffle prizes.  It was a really great atmosphere and gave people of sense of what it will be like for us to have a lido in Wargrave.

Well done to all the swimmers and supporters who came along and made it a brilliant community event, raising an incredible £4,669.60!
